Custom Cupcakes

We are getting more and more requests to customize our cupcakes and most times, we don't mind veering off from our regular path. Opening up to requests for themed cupcakes has turned out to be as much fun for us as they are for our customers.
That being said, we have had to turn down some projects that involved certain body parts. Anyone seen the episode of Cake Boss where Buddy's mom put her foot down on a certain project? That's exactly what I mean. As much as we'd like to take on fun projects, I'm not sure we're there yet. Have a Super Monday!

Let's come together

Picture courtesy Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro-Atlanta

Literally everywhere I go, I hear stories of people being laid off, losing their homes, and going through financial hardship. Turn on CNN and it’s all about the economic downturn. It can be so depressing. However, there are some stories of hope as you can see from this article on CNNMoney.com (thanks to @rosinaseydel on Twitter for the link to the article).

Wondering what you can do to help?
Buy local – Behind every small business is a family that has invested time and money, quality time with each other in order to fulfill their dream of starting their own business. Let's help them stay afloat - it's a win-win for both parties. Scored big this weekend on fresh vegetables from a farmer at my neighborhood farmers market. The smile on his face was priceless.
Offer support – A kind word goes a long way in lifting up a person’s spirits. If nothing else, words of encouragement can inspire people to get back on their feet and try again.
Do something nice for a stranger – Some time ago, a lady gave me a 50% off coupon while I was in line at a store. It may seem small but this kind gesture made me want to turn around and do something nice for the next person.

Just to get the ball rolling, if you know anyone in the metro-Atlanta area that has been laid off or going through some tough times, let us know and we’ll take them a free box of cupcakes on your behalf. That ought to make them smile. I’ve got approval to give away 20 boxes through the end of June so let’s see how it goes.

Did you know that children laugh about 400 times a day while adults only laugh 15 times a day? How did we lose 385 laughs from childhood to adulthood?

Update: Send an email to order@lenoxcupcakes.com with the recipient's contact information. Also include a special message so that they know who the cupcakes are from.

Q & A: Sugar-free cupcakes

We recently received an email asking about our sugar-free cupcakes. How do we do it? We don't exactly advertise our sugar-free cupcakes so I'm glad we got this question. For people looking for healthier options, we tell them about our Sweet Elise collection which is more organic, refined sugar free, and 100% sweet, as we like to say. However, for people who want to avoid sugar, we use either Splenda or agave nectar, depending on the customer's preference.

We are glad to have been asked this question because it made us realize that our customers probably don't know that we are able to customize certain recipes to meet their dietary needs. For other questions about our cupcakes, please send an email to order@lenoxcupcakes.com. Have a great day!

Custom Cupcakes for University of Georgia Couple

A few months ago, we had the pleasure of creating 300 custom Georgia “G” cupcakes for the wedding celebration of Rosemary and Joel. The couple are huge Georgia fans and wanted their cupcakes to reflect this. It was a personal pleasure to be part of that project because I’m a huge Georgia fan myself. We made 100 each of Red Velvet, Chocolate Whisper, and Vanilla-Vanilla for the event. All the cupcakes were topped with hand-cut fondant Georgia “G” lettering in either red or black. Georgia, red or black, that is…

We’ve finally been able to get a hold of a couple of pictures from their event which took place at the UGA stadium (Georgia fans know Sanford Stadium oh so well). I wasn’t there to see the set up myself so I’m glad that their event coordinator Jenn Thomas (of Jennnifer Thomas Designs) was kind enough to send the pictures my way. The lovely photos were taken by Jeremy Harwell, a photographer in Athens. Enjoy!

Here’s what their event coordinator, Jenn, had to say about the cupcakes after the event:

"The cupcakes were a huge hit last weekend! Everyone raved about them all evening, and I had several people ask me where they had come from- so hopefully you'll have some new customers! "

New Things!

So, my last post was about New Happenings. This post is about new things. I can hardly contain my excitement about our new personalized ribbons. We've been using them for two or three weeks and I just LOVE them. We include them (for FREE, fingers crossed) as part of our gift packaging.

My friend Ase (of Ase Photography) took some beautiful pictures and I just HAD to share! Oh, and if you're on Flickr, you'll see some other great shots that she took of our cuppies. There are way too many of them to post here so I set up our Lenox Cupcakes Flickr page.

Cuppies = Cupcakes

Have a great weekend!

New Happenings

Hi Everyone!

It’s been a long, dry (blogging) spell and thought I should let you guys in on some of the things we’re working on. First of all, let me say how thrilled I am to have a terrific new kitchen rental agreement. We’ve settled quite nicely into our new digs and are thrilled to be doing business with such amazing ladies. Emphasis on amazing. This kitchen is equipped to the nines with state-of-the-art equipment that we’re almost afraid to touch. Almost!

More recently, we’ve been approached about a possible retail outlet for Lenox Cupcakes. Now, being the organic business-building people that we are, we want to partner with another business to provide an awesome experience for our customers. As always, our customers come first so we are looking to partner with a business that’s all about providing exceptional service to their customers as well. That’s a biggie. If you know of any businesses looking for a storefront in the Buckhead area, please tell them about us. We’ll thank you in cupcakes. That’s all for now. Enjoy the rest of your week. Personally, I am looking forward to making monkey cupcakes for a little boy’s first birthday. I haven’t made them since my baby turned one so it should be fun!
