There's still time to place your holiday orders. We've got a whole team ready to assist you whether you decide to pick your cupcakes up at our new bakery or have them delivered. In addition to our 12 everyday flavors, we've added six holiday flavors into the mix. Our holiday flavors are:

Coming Soon: Lenox Cupcakes at 5392 Peachtree Rd

It’s hard to believe that we finally have a place to call our baking home. After our temporary lease at Phipps Plaza ended, we were pretty sure where we would be going next. In fact, we’d planned on that location long before our final days at Phipps. We had our design in place and were ready to move forward when we found out that the restaurant next door didn’t want a cupcake shop in the same plaza. Womp womp. We found a couple more spots we thought would be ideal but the deals somehow fell through right before we signed the lease. Finally, it dawned on us that these seemingly perfect spaces, may not be ideal for us. We thought about our needs as a family and what we needed in terms of work/life balance and a space we initially didn’t think was a fit suddenly started to make sense.

Our new space at 5392 Peachtree Rd would be our main baking facility where we would bake cupcakes for delivery and pick up. It’s just perfect for that. When we were at Phipps, we found ourselves baking more for pick up and delivery than we did for walk-ins. We often thought it would be great if Saturdays were reserved just for walk-ins. That scenario might just be possible at our new location. We’re really excited about the opportunity to serve our customers and still spend quality time together as a family. It’s exciting, scary and exciting all over again.

In our earlier days as a delivery-only company, I remember being frustrated about not having a place for people to come and pick up their cupcakes. And then when we had the temporary store, I remember longing for the days when I could volunteer at my son’s school or go on our annual vacay. I’m hoping this time around, I’ll actually be able to volunteer more often without cancelling at the last minute and even though we probably won’t be able to take the last two weeks of the year off as we did in times past, I know for sure we won’t be open on New Year’s Day :-)

So long Phipps Plaza...

It is amazing to think that it was a little over a year ago that we began working on plans for our pop-up store at Phipps Plaza. It has now been a year and we are thankful to have been able to test our concept in a retail environment. We met some wonderful people and it was gratifying to witness customers enjoying our cupcakes firsthand. We will no doubt miss all our customers, especially those who drove a great distance to see us.

We are truly excited, energized, and ready for the next phase of our business venture. For now, our cupcakes are available by delivery, throughout the metro-Atlanta area, while we are working on a more permanent space. Wow, it has been a while! We're still here, selling out on cupcakes thanks to our fabulous customers, and baking baking baking!

We're particularly excited about this Saturday - we're having a guest baker (mom) in the store, and we just know she's going to come up with something delicious (think pound (cup)cake filled with raspberry and topped with cream cheese icing, and then drool).

We can't believe it's March already! Phew! But we're not complaining. In fact, we're ready for spring over at Lenox Cupcakes - and speaking of spring, check out Swoozie's Spring catalog for some lovely treats from yours truly that will make you swoon and drool!

It's no secret that we love Swoozies, so the opportunity to be featured in their Spring catalog was something we couldn't pass up on. Plus, we got to dress up our favorite treats in the world - cupcakes, whoopie pies and cake pops - for a fun photo shoot! We don't like to brag, but those whoopie pies were mmm mmmm good! So good, that we're thinking of having them at the store...thinking...;-)

Paint Cupcakes!

Hi everyone! Hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather this weekend!

We wanted to let you know of an upcoming event on Wednesday, February 23rd from 7-9pm. This time we're working with Creatively Yours, a fun place to express your artistic side in a fun environment (think cocktails)! On Wednesday, themed "Lenox Cupcakes Night," artists will paint portraits of cupcakes as part of a standard Cocktails & Canvas painting session.

Three winners will be selected based on creativity and originality, and each will receive a gift certificate for one dozen cupcakes! Plus, all three winning paintings will be showcased on the main wall of the store, and Lenox Cupcakes will host an artist showcase at the store on Friday, February 25th from 6-8pm. The paintings will remain on display in the store for some time, so come by and check them out!

Store-face-lift, Cupcakes, Cocktails and Brides-to-Be!

Hello cupcake lovers! It's February!

We're so excited to announce yet another fabulous event to make your lives sweet! This time, we're doing something for the brides-to-be, their friends, family, and just about anyone who loves our cupcakes! We present, "How Sweet It Is," a bridal social that gives brides-to-be access to a fun event and some cool vendors!

Starting on Valentine's Day (Monday February 14), our store will get a "Wedding Wonderland" face lift! Stop by all week and view the Wedding Window transformation by Studio Wed, Atlanta's premiere wedding group. We'll have cupcakes (of course), stunning wedding table décor, floral design, couture wedding gowns, wedding stationery and much more on display!

Then (yes, there's more), on Saturday February 19, we'll have a Bridal Social from 2-4pm at the store. Vendors will be there, and so will cocktails and our delicious cupcakes. Brides-to-be can mix and mingle with top wedding vendors in a fun, relaxing atmosphere!

We started the New Year off with a bang, an explosion of flavors, if you will. Starting January 1st, we added Strawberry Swirl and Sunny Lemon to our everyday flavors. Yes, they are now available every. single. day. You asked for it, and now you have it.

Hello, cupcake lovers! It's November, and we're guessing this weather is supposed to be "fall weather." In Atlanta. Right! Anyway, fall still means cute boots, scarves, and planning for thanksgiving. This year flew by so fast...phew!

Brides-To-Be, Lenox Cupcakes and Crate & Barrel

Our cupcakes have been making their rounds, and their latest adventure has been at the Lenox Square Crate & Barrel with a bunch of fabulous brides-to-be! Crate & Barrel at Lenox has been hosting wedding parties for brides-to-be, and we're pleased that our cupcakes were invited too, even though they never make it our of there alive (but we're happy about that).

Crate & Barrel at Lenox allows brides-to-be to mix and mingle for two full hours, and provide music, food, drinks, and tasty treats (including our cupcakes). And, they also have an expert on site to advice these ladies on registering. The next event is this Sunday, October 24 at 9am, and we'll be there with tasty cupcakes!

We Cupcake Weekends!

Happy Tuesday!

We love weekends over here at Lenox Cupcakes, and this past weekend was no exception! We had a lot of cupcake lovers stop by, including Atlanta hair stylist Derek J, also popularly known as the hair stylist to Kim Zolciak on the Real Housewives of Atlanta! And, if you're curious to know what he ordered, he got the Vanilla-Vanilla, Coco-Nut and a bottle of Evian :-).

Our English Toffee flavor (Toffee cupcake with vanilla buttercream rolled in crunchy toffee pieces)flew off the shelves like crazy, and we literally had people coming back to see if we baked some more! We appreciate our customers and their extreme patience, and for making the English Toffee cupcake the flavor of the weekend.

Pink Cupcakes, Pink Cause!

Hello everyone!

As you know, we're now at Phipps Plaza, and we've been getting a lot of love from our neighbor stores! So, we decided to show some neighborly love while helping a great cause at the same time. Belk, our next door neighbor, is having a special guest over on Friday - Nancy Brinker, founder and CEO of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, will stop by Belk to make a special announcement and sign copies of her book.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we at Lenox Cupcakes are advocates for a cure for breast cancer (and we like to start early, too). Breast cancer affects hundreds of thousands of women each year, and too many lives are lost to the disease. So, in honor of the event at Belk, we're baking pink cupcakes! Yes! And, all proceeds from the sale will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure to help in the fight against breast cancer! So stop by our store on Friday, September 24th and purchase a pink cupcake (or two) for the cause!

The Pink Cupcake is a Madagascar Bourbon vanilla cupcake filled with pink vanilla creme and topped with our signature vanilla buttercream.

Cupcake Bar at Swoozie's Tonight

Swoozie's is back! Yes! My favorite store for personalized invitations, paperie, and all kinds of snazzy gifts, is back and I couldn't be more excited. My friends and I mourned the loss of our favorite store's location in Brookwood and more recently sent each other "Swoozie's is back!" emails to announce the fact that they were moving to a new store in Buckhead!

Now, not only is Swoozie's back, but thanks to Sharon of Sweet Sensations for the referral, Lenox Cupcakes will be setting up a Cupcake Bar at Swoozie's grand opening at Chastain Square tonight from 6-9pm. It is hard to tell you what this means to me. First of all, I love all things Swoozie's. I would be their mascot free of charge, if they asked me. Second of all, I have been admiring Sharon's work at Sweet Sensations for a while now. To get a call from her to do this is like winning the lottery. Nothing beats this. So, my friends, I am beyond excited and with more notice, I would have gladly dyed my hair pink and orange in honor of this awesome day. Alas, I've got to be all professional about it :-)

Lenox Cupcakes at Phipps Plaza Now Open!

Finally! We are now open for business at Phipps Plaza. This past Saturday was our first official day and we've been having a blast ever since. Our new neighbors have been extremely warm and supportive. They were the first to try our cupcakes and refer their customers to us. On Saturday, we scrambled to keep our case full but by Sunday, we were fully armed with cupcakes. Right now, we are doing twelve flavors a day with two being daily specials offered that day only. That might change because the English Toffee we introduced on Saturday was a huge hit. Our ten flavors available daily are:

We’re really, really close

I hate to keep saying this but we’re really, really close to opening. Seriously. We were going to open today but our A/C’s not working. I realized there was a problem and called a guy that I just knew would fix the problem. I went about my business and came back to find a note on a yellow sticky “P.S: Your A/C’s not working” and he left a number to another company. I called the other company and they said they would come early next week. We called a few other companies and nada. No way! We were trying to open like Sunday! Arrrrrrrrrrrgh! We told everyone that stopped by! We told our web guy to make changes to the website! We told everyone! And now, we have to write this: We’re really, really close and will open as soon as our A/C is fixed. It’s no joke standing in front of the store so imagine what it must be like working with the ovens going in the back! In the meantime, we’ll continue to crank out our online orders for delivery. We didn’t expect this but please bear with us. Apparently there are a lot of people that need A/Cs right now and we’ve just joined the queue.

P.S: I cupcake ATL but this heat's got to go!

Still Standing

The title of this post is just to say I'm still here. This blog hasn't been updated in forever because it's really hard to find time to sit down and download what's been going on. I almost miss the daily flavor updates on the blog but it was getting redundant posting them here as well as on Twitter and Facebook.

We've just concluded what was probably our busiest week ever, better than Valentine's Day. It's nice to know that moms are so appreciated. Even though things could have gotten overwhelming, I'm thankful to my small crew for being super efficient. Speaking of efficiency, that's one of my goals for this year. I recently met with a business advisor and here are some lessons that might help other businesses, specifically those in the food industry.

Map out a roadplan for your business. This usually comes in the form of a business plan. I don't have a business plan as I wasn't planning to court investors. What I do have is a document that has contains my aspirations for the business - in three phases. I'll take his advice and make it more of a formal plan. www.wsi.miniplan.com and www.bplans.com were sites he suggested.
Maintain quality at all costs. There will be vendors trying to sell you ingredients that are cheaper and "produce the same or better results". Don't do it! Not even once. This is coming from someone that was in the business for 48 years.
Develop a technique in production. Isn't that the ultimate goal? It would be nice if someone were to hand us all a manual on how to do this. Unfortunately and fortunately, this is something that needs to be developed within the business. It helps to develop and perfect a technique that is ultimately yours.

Damask Baby Shower

We recently had the pleasure of working with the uber talented planners at Table Twelve Events in creating cupcakes for a baby shower. They asked for pink cupcakes with black A's on some of them and simple sprinkles on the others. They also mentioned that the shower was a damask theme. We went out on a limb and made some heart-shaped cupcake toppers in pink & white and black & white damask to somehow tie together the damask theme of the shower. From the email that just came in, the toppers worked.

I just wanted to thank you again, for the wonderful cupcakes matching our damask baby shower theme. We could not have asked for better customer service and the cupcakes were absolutely delicious! We will certainly partner with you in the future anytime there is a request for cupcakes. Enjoy the pictures attached. Again, thank you so much our event was a SMASH because of you!

It's been a year of many ups (new kitchen agreement, amazing corporate clients, new website, fun events, charitable contributions, super supplier) and a few downs (coffee shop closing, uncollected funds- what's a small biz to do, send them to collections???). Bootstrap, yes... Bootleg, no

I'll explain the crazy title in a minute. Someone told our kindly driver that we were bootleg for not having a storefront and I thought this might be a good time to explain our business model. You see, we don't operate a storefront for a variety of reasons with the main reason being the cost of operating a brick and mortar. Keeping our operating costs low gives us room to play with the same high-end ingredients that designer cupcake stores use (Valrhona chocolate, Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla, real chocolate sprinkles and chocolate flakes from France, European stlye butter, pure extracts and spices, organic produce, etc).

Still, I understand that our delivery-only model is not ideal for everyone so I'll continue to look for other ways to get our cupcakes out there. I must say that we have experimented with markets, neighborhood coffee shops and those haven't worked as well as we would have liked. Speaking of which, I went to make a delivery to Tilt, where we had our cupcakes and was greeted with a sign saying that they had closed :(

Shoe Sale at Saks!

Okay, so this is totally not what this blog is about but I thought I'd be a good citizen and let any shoe lovers out there know that there is a rocking shoe sale going on at Saks Fifth Avenue today. I stopped by to check on some cupcakes we'd delivered earlier today. I wanted to make sure that they were happy with the delivery/service/cupcakes.

After taking care of that official business, I went about my business having noticed some big ol' red signs by the shoe racks. And what did they have? Totally awesome shoes! Within minutes, I started to play a justify game that I play in my head that involves the many reasons I have to have anything. Luckily enough, I unjustified myself out of the shoes in time to tell you about the sale.

I took a break earlier this afternoon and strolled through a holiday market here in town. I sooooo love markets but find it a little bit of a let down that they haven't quite caught on in Atlanta. The markets here are always so disappointingly empty (even on weekends). Do y'all not like markets? Seriously, those are the best finds anywhere. I always get the most unique pieces of jewelry and the coolest tchotchkes at neighborhood markets. Maybe it's just me, but I kinda think it's cool to meet the person who designed my earrings...

Can you believe that December's already here? This is the last month in the year 2009 so we've got to make it count! I am thankful that I've been able to sign off on a few of the items on that list. However, there's still so much left to do. I'm taking advantage of this new month and making the remaining of those goals a reality. Let's do this!

I was standing in line for coffee yesterday and the guys behind me kept talking about their Halloween costumes. Apparently, Michael Jackson's thriller outfit (the one with the red jacket) is going to be a huge hit this year. Last year, Sarah Palin was a huge hit at the Little Five Points festival. Sounds like there'll be some fun parties around town this weekend. While I won't be partaking in much of the festivities, I will be working behind the scenes to make it a little sweeter for some.

Hi Everyone!

Happy Thursday! It's been unseasonally warm here in Atlanta and while I'm okay with it, most frostings don't fare too well if left in direct sunlight for too long. So, if you have cupcakes in the car and are making a "quick stop", be sure to make it really quick as that heat could melt the frosting.

We've been busy with last minute cupcake orders. No complaints there. Here's what we baked today:

Oh by the way, we've been getting great feedback from our customers and it's been soooooooooo encouraging. One was from a customer in New York who ordered cupcakes for her best friend (personalized with her bestie's initials). She called us back to let us know that her friend called her in tears when she received the surprise. Apparently, she loved the presentation of the cupcakes as well as the sweet note her friend included with her gift. The second was from a customer who emailed to say even though she ordered four dozen minis for her loved one to share at the office, he still wouldn't give any away. The last one was from an office Halloween party. Apparently, our cupcakes were the hit of the party. Great feedback overall. Please keep them coming :-)
